| Summary, etc. | L’abbaye haut-normande de Jumièges est baronne de Vimoutiers et possède le prieuré de Crouttes, dans le sud du pays d’Auge. Elle y exerce ses droits seigneuriaux jusqu’à la Révolution. Les dizaines de liasses de documents déposés aux Archives de Seine-Maritime permettent de décrire précisément ces seigneuries : domaine fieffé et non fieffé, aveux, redevances, baux des receveurs, amendes, propriété, taille des parcelles et des exploitations, utilisation du sol... Si les faits caractérisant la seigneurie ne sont pas nouveaux, l’intérêt de l’étude réside sans doute dans l’analyse de la propriété, de sa répartition sociale, et de l’utilisation du sol où l’herbe ne cesse de gagner du terrain et domine nettement les labours, favorisant le développement de l’élevage bovin au pays de Camembert. |

| Summary, etc. | The Abbot of Jumièges, lord of CamembertThe Norman abbey of Jumièges owned the barony of Vimoutiers and the priory of Crouttes in the south of the pays d’Auge where it exercised manorial rights until the Revolution. Documents in the Seine-Maritime Archives give an exact description of these rights concerning all aspects of manor : ceded lands, demesne, censuses, dues owed, leases of tax collectors, fines, sizes of holdings, soil use... Little new light is shed on the nature of manorial administration but this study does illuminate the social distribution of property, soil use where pastures become increasingly important and dominate tillage, favouring dairy farming in the Camembert region. |
