Summary, etc. | El entorno forestal del oeste del lago Baikal, en el sur de Siberia, ha sido durante mucho tiempo el hogar de pequeños grupos de cazadores acéfalos, entre los cuales grupos indígenas buriatos, los Ehirit-Bulagat. Poco a poco, se convirtieron en criadores de caballos, como sus padres mongoles, y luego en agricultores, como los colonos rusos, aunque siempre manteniéndose fieles a los valores de la caza, casi hasta la época soviética. Sus padres buriatos del este del Baikal, los Hori, los consideraban cazadores y los calificaban de «inextensibles», ya que intentaban aumentar sus rebaños practicando ciertas formas de caza. Pero, a los ojos de los Evenk, sus vecinos tunguses del norte del Baikal, eran pastores que querían ser cazadores, pero habían domesticado renos. Desde la infancia, ambos grupos interiorizaron tácitamente principios similares, en distintas formas y grados: autonomía individual, emulación, mutualidad y solidaridad. Se animaba a cada quien a encontrar su propia manera de hacer las cosas, asumir riesgos, así como se fomentaba la singularidad; todo era una oportunidad para desafiarse, medirse, competir, pero sin permitir nunca que nadie tuviera ventaja. La emulación dinamizaba las relaciones, a la vez que reforzaba la solidaridad mundial. Los cambios que acompañaron al desarrollo de la ganadería llevaron a los Ehirit-Bulagat a adoptar parcialmente el principio de jerarquía. En su versión de la epopeya de Geser, el héroe es aquel que demuestra ser superior en valor, no en estatus. |
