| Summary, etc. | El trastorno por déficit de atención con o sin hiperactividad (TDAH) es una enfermedad psiquiátrica que se diagnostica cada vez más en niños y adultos. La elevada prevalencia de este trastorno entre los consumidores de drogas y las respuestas farmacológicas resultantes de tratamientos psicoestimulantes como el metilfenidato plantean el problema de la relación entre el TDAH y el consumo de drogas, en particular de estimulantes. Por este motivo, este artículo se centra en la relación entre el TDAH y la cocaína, utilizando datos epidemiológicos, y más concretamente en la posibilidad de manejar la adicción a la cocaína con tratamientos psicoestimulantes. Este enfoque es coherente con la hipótesis de que, frente al TDAH, los consumidores de estimulantes se autoprescriben y nutre los estudios clínicos que intentan demostrar la eficacia de los psicoestimulantes como tratamiento de la adicción a los estimulantes. |
