| Summary, etc. | Cet article esquisse les angles morts d’une histoire, celle de la qualification du savoir au xixe siècle, à partir de l’apparition conjointe du néologisme épistémologie et du syntagme philosophie des sciences. Au-delà des déterminations linguistiques et institutionnelles, il s’efforce de cerner la logique de leur assise commune, en un siècle qui consolida à la fois le rôle central de l’histoire et celui de la recherche d’un statut propre à la pensée. Ainsi, il espère suppléer aux confusions dues à l’impact de la circulation des idées (traductions, traditions et réceptions) et souhaite exposer le lieu d’une profusion conceptuelle, en s’attachant à rendre compte de l’unité d’habitudes générées par l’héritage d’une époque. |

| Summary, etc. | This article outlines the blind spots of a history, that of the qualification of knowledge in the 19th century, from the joint appearance of the neologism epistemology and the phrase philosophy of science. Beyond linguistic and institutional determinations, it endeavors to identify the logic of their common basis, in a century which consolidated both the central role of history and that of the search for a status specific to thought. Thus, it aspires to compensate for the confusions due to the impact of the circulation of ideas (translations, traditions and receptions) and wishes to show the place of a conceptual profusion by endeavoring to account for the unity of habits generated by the heritage of an era. |
