L’examen attentif du sa position, comparée aux interprétations de Thomas d’Aquin par les dominicains thomistes de l’époque, conduit à une appréciation plus nuancée. L’opinion de Durand, selon laquelle le Christ posséderait une pluralité d’esse du fait de la dualité de nature, ne diffère pas fondamentalement de l’opinion de son confrère et adversaire acharné, Hervé de Nédellec. La position de Durand est attaquée non pas parce qu’il se serait écarté d’un thomisme classique, mais pour sa remise en cause de la métaphysique aristotélicienne, critère de toute interprétation « légitime » de la pensée de Thomas. |
