Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | The singularisation of an ethical existance according to Thomas Aquinas Within the context of considering singularity’s relationship to plurality and universality within Ethics, this paper explores the discursive terms of Ethics by examining the prologues of the Secunda Pars of the Summa theologiae . Set apart from the usual so-called humanist and personnalist understanding of these texts, a “pragmatic” approach points to the slow construction of the ethical human actor in order to distinguish him from then relate him to animals. A human actor paradigmatically reaches singularity through a “religious” interpretation of his desires and actions amidst networks where a plurality of other actors and spectators intersect. In this state of becoming, universal norms and social conditions allow adjuvant and anticipatory syncopations of singular action. |
