| Summary, etc. | RésuméSi entre le XVe et le XXe siècle on peut distinguer deux histoires de l’exégèse critique, la première qui court du XVe au XVIIIe marque effectivement une crise de la lecture de la Bible. Celle-ci porte d’abord sur la fiabilité du texte et de ses traductions pour mettre bientôt en doute la légitimité et la justesse du principe allégorique qui avait dominé la chrétienté jusqu’à la fin du Moyen Âge. Entre le milieu du XVIIe siècle et le milieu du XVIIIe, Richard Simon et Jean Astruc prennent à bras le corps un long héritage et surtout les difficultés qui n’ont cessé de s’accumuler pour ouvrir à la réception et à l’intelligence du texte une voie que la modernité exigeait tant d’un point de vue épistémologique que d’un point de vue théologique. |

| Summary, etc. | The critical stage in Biblical receptionAlthough one can discern two histories of critical exegesis between the fifteenth and the twentieth century, the first, which runs from the fifteenth to the eighteenth, indeed highlights a crisis in the way the Bible was read. This crisis concerns firstly the reliability of the text and its translations, which rapidly led to doubts about the legitimacy and the accuracy of the allegorical principle dominating Christianity until the end of the Middle Ages. Between the end of the seventeenth and the mid-eighteenth century, Richard Simon and Jean Astruc engage with a long heritage and especially with the difficulties that built up in the attempts to open up new ways to receive and comprehend the text which modernity required, both from an epistemological and a theological standpoint. |
