520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | This article will set out four ambiguities in pardon that may render the concept more fragile and create reservations about using it anywhere and everywhere. Firstly, pardon repeats the contradictory character of time, according to which everything has already passed and nothing ever truly passes (I). On the other hand, it appears to demand both the erasure and the deepening of the evil committed, thus seen as an event or as a process (II). Further more, it often complexifies the caricatural alternative between justice and grace and demands that the latter arise from the former (III). Finally, it tends to set out a relation between the offender and the person offended in which the relation of domination it is supposed to end is replayed or reversed (IV). - These four ambiguities eliminate all moralism of pardon. |
