520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Abraham’s history in Genesis contains several doubled scenes. This article studies in parallel the two episodes where a conflict opposes Abraham and Sarah about the handmaid Agar (and her son Ismael) : Gen 16 :1-6 and 21 :8-14. These scenes are bound themselves to other episodes : respectively 12 :10-20, where another trio involves also an Egyptian and 22 :1-19 where Abraham has to separate from Isaac, after having dismissed Ismael. The comparative examination of these passages highlights the narrative art of these texts, but also helps to understand the significance of what they tell about the human reality.
