| Summary, etc. | Cette étude poursuit des recherches consacrées à une conception originale de la liberté, issue pour l’essentiel des stoïciens et de Paul : la liberté comme usage du monde. La décrire dans ses lignes principales conduit alors à rendre toute sa visibilité à l’une de ses figures : la pratique du don, repérée ici chez Sénèque et Paul. Montrer en quoi l’un et l’autre articulent diversement don et liberté au nom d’une fraternité en acte permet par contraste de pointer l’une des difficultés saillantes de l’individu moderne : le cas du dernier Rousseau, celui des Rêveries, rend visible, tel un miroir grossissant, les refus et incompréhensions de qui ne voit dans la pratique du don que chaînes, transaction aliénante, péril pour soi. |

| Summary, etc. | This study follows some research devoted to an original conception of freedom mostly coming from the Stoics and from Paul. That is freedom as “usage of the world”. To describe it in its main traits results in making all visible one of its figures : the practice of the gift as identified by Seneca and Paul. Showing how they both articulate gift and freedom in different ways on behalf of a fraternity in action allows highlighting, in contrast, one of the prominent difficulties of the modern individual. Indeed the case of Rousseau, in his last work the Rêveries, makes visible, as a magnifying mirror, the refusals and misunderstandings of whoever only sees chains, alienating transaction, danger to self in the practice of the gift. |
