| Summary, etc. | Notre-Dame de Paris occupe une place particulière dans le patrimoine français, car elle est à la fois un élément fondamental de ce patrimoine et le monument à partir duquel la notion de monument historique s’est forgée. La cathédrale se situe au point de convergence de multiples dimensions historiques, artistiques, techniques, hospitalières, liturgiques, spirituelles. Toutes ces dimensions doivent être prises en compte dans le projet de restauration, en y incluant l’environnement de l’édifice et notamment l’Hôtel-Dieu. L’incendie du 15 avril 2019 devrait être le point de départ d’une nouvelle réflexion sur le rôle de l’État dans la préservation du patrimoine commun. |

| Summary, etc. | Notre-Dame holds a special place in French heritage. The cathedral of Paris is one of the most significant components of this heritage. But the emergence of the concept of “historical monument” also started from the thoughts about the restoration of this symbolic building in the 19th century. Notre-Dame is the meeting point of several dimensions : history, art, technics, links between the cathedral and its hospital, liturgy, spirituality. These dimensions are all to be considered in the restoration plan of Notre-Dame, including its surroundings and especially the Hôtel-Dieu. The fire of April 15th 2019 should be the starting point of a new State policy in the field of heritage preservation. |
