Summary, etc. L’objet de cet article est triple : montrer les coulisses du métier de professeur en université et ses ambivalences, notamment lors de la mise en place d’un nouveau type de cours : le grand cours. Exposer comment la situation de confinement en 2020 en France liée à l’épidémie de Covid-19 a éclaté tout repère et a généré une adaptation pédagogique de nature exceptionnelle, en distanciel, dont il s’agit de mesurer les conséquences avant toute généralisation. Enfin, démontrer comment la recherche et la sociologie sont fondamentales en ces périodes de crise puisqu’elles peuvent nous donner des clefs de compréhension quasi immédiates, tout en étant hypothétiques, d’une situation inédite et angoissante ainsi que de possibles repères d’action.

Summary, etc. The object of this article is threefold : first, go behind the scenes and reveal the hidden aspects in the work of a university professor, including its ambivalent dimensions, and especially when introducing a new type of course : the Grand Course. Second, reveal how the French 2020 lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic has shattered all points of reference and resulted in an educational adaptation unseen before, with distance learning, of which we need to measure the consequences before contemplating its possible generalization. Lastly, demonstrate how research and sociology are essential in such times of crisis, as they can provide us with almost immediate, although hypothetical, keys to understand a new and distressing situation, as well as potential benchmarks for action.
