| Summary, etc. | Le mot « Sion » est souvent traité comme synonyme de Jérusalem. Cependant, l’usage des deux vocables dans la Bible suggère qu’une distinction subtile devrait être faite entre les deux. Alors que Jérusalem est clairement un toponyme géographique, Sion se situe plutôt au croisement des axes espace-temps. La notion biblique de Sion est à la fois un moment dans le temps et un lieu dans l’espace. Cet article abordera en trois parties Sion et les diverses figures d’eschatologie que l’expression condense. Tout d’abord, les références bibliques à Sion seront brièvement examinées. Ensuite, la place de Sion dans le messianisme juif sera explorée. Troisièmement, nous présenterons la position des Églises protestantes qui épousent une théologie « sioniste chrétienne ». La conclusion portera sur les défis et les possibilités que la notion biblique de Sion offre pour l’approfondissement du dialogue œcuménique entre les Églises. |

| Summary, etc. | The word “Zion” is often interpreted to be a synonym for Jerusalem. However, the double usage of the terms suggests that there is a subtle distinction between them. While Jerusalem is a geographic toponym, Zion is located at the intersection of the space-time axis. The biblical notion of Zion refers to both a moment in time and a point in space. This article will discuss Zion and the varying eschatological figures that it represents in three parts. First, the biblical references to Zion will be briefly examined. Second, the place of Zion in Jewish messianism will be explored. Third, the position of Protestant churches that espouse a “Christian Zionist” theology will be presented. The conclusion will discuss the challenges and opportunities that the biblical notion of Zion presents for the furtherance of ecumenical dialogue among Churches. |
