520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Going beyond the contemporary dilemma between phenomenology and metaphysics, metaxology asserts that there is no “essence” of phenomenality, nor are there mutually exclusive opposing essences within phenomenality since every concrete phenomenality consists of a set of polarities and interactions of which neither the principle of unity nor the final realisation is ever completely “given”. It is thus not a choice between “interiority” or “exteriority”, “immanence” or “transcendence”, or “determination” or “indeterminacy”, since phenomena are paths, metaxu, “betweens”, given to a freedom which can reduce them to phenomenalistic illusions, transform them into objects or murderous idols, or recognise their openness to a transcendence and an ever-new revelation of reality. Phenomenology, ethics, and metaphysics are thus, all three, “first philosophy”, and it is necessary to try to articulate the living link between them : metaxology. Now, if only the love “that surpasses all knowledge” is equal to the truth of phenomena, there is every chance that the connection between reason and faith, reason and love, is constitutive of philia-sophia itself, and is conductive to a widening and a deepening of the link between the world and Christian Revelation. |
