| Summary, etc. | Depuis sa conversion avec son épouse dans sa jeunesse, Maritain poursuit le désir d’une authentique vie chrétienne, habitée par l’appel universel à la sainteté. Ce thème de la sainteté ne traverse pas seulement son existence mais aussi son œuvre philosophique, aux frontières de la théologie. En philosophie politique, sa compréhension du temporel et du spirituel s’éclaire lorsqu’on saisit l’importance qu’elle accorde au thème de la sainteté. Comment les saints participent-ils à l’édification d’une société plus juste et plus fraternelle ? Quelle fécondité les saints portent-ils dans la société ? Assez paradoxalement, c’est dans sa discussion avec son ancien maître, Henri Bergson, dont il s’est ensuite vivement éloigné, que l’on perçoit les enjeux de la fécondité sociale de la sainteté. |
