| Summary, etc. | Résumé L’histoire urbaine de la Basse-Seine ne se résume pas à la ville nouvelle de Vaudreuil, dont l’échec n’est que l’arbre cachant la forêt. Cette riche et vaste région reliant Paris à l’océan fut en effet dès sa reconstruction un objectif majeur de l’aménagement du territoire et devint, sous la pression démographique et au cœur des réformes de la maîtrise foncière et de la décentralisation, le plus important laboratoire de l’urbanisme et de l’aménagement régional. Les cadres expérimentaux alors conçus, souvent malmenés par la récession et rattrapés par l’histoire, nous ont toutefois laissé d’irremplaçables témoignages de la croissance. |

| Summary, etc. | Urban history of the Basse-Seine is not limited to the new town of Vaudreuil whose failure is no more than the tree hiding the forest. This rich and vast region linking Paris to the ocean was a major goal of regional planning starting from its reconstruction and became under demographic pressure and at the heart of the reforms of property rights and decentralization, the biggest laboratory of town and regional planning. The experimental frameworks designed then, often buffeted by the recession, and caught up by history nevertheless left irreplaceable witnesses of growth. |
