| Summary, etc. | Cet article se concentre sur le déclin industriel de Porto Marghera (Venise). La zone portuaire et industrielle a été créée en 1917 grâce à un financement de l’État et s’est considérablement développée par le biais de la métallurgie et de la chimie, employant des milliers de travailleurs originaires des campagnes environnantes. Dès les années 1970, le site connaît une crise qui trouve son origine dans les problèmes de santé et les pollutions de l’environnement. L’intervention de l’État, les négociations collectives avec les syndicats et la subjectivité des travailleurs sont ici prises en compte et analysées dans un processus qui, après l’espoir d’une restructuration durable, mène au déclin et à une véritable désindustrialisation. Aujourd’hui, Porto Marghera tente de s’inventer un avenir possible autour du port de commerce et de nouvelles activités autour des connaissances et de la technologie. |

| Summary, etc. | The vanishing of industrial Italy: Porto Marghera, VeniceThe article sets out to provide an overview of the industrial decline at Porto Marghera (Venice). The dockland and industrial area was created with State funding in 1917 and developed tremendously in metallurgy and chemical industry, employing thousands of workers from the surrounding countryside. Already in the 1970s it entered a crisis in which the health and environmental issues played a major role. State intervention, unions’ collective bargaining and workers’ subjectivity are considered in the process that led from the hope of a sustainable restructuring, through the phase of decline, to a proper deindustrialization. Today Porto Marghera is struggling to find a possible future around the commercial port and new activities in the field of knowledge and technology. |
