| Summary, etc. | Les politiques du logement qui se sont succédé depuis la Seconde Guerre mondiale ont atteint l’un de leurs objectifs en permettant aux retraités d’accumuler un patrimoine immobilier qui les place dans une situation plus enviable que les jeunes générations.La question aujourd’hui prégnante est celle de l’adaptation de ce patrimoine au vieillissement de ses occupants. Aménager son logement pour bien y vieillir est considéré comme un moyen de prévenir la dépendance et de limiter son coût.La loi d’adaptation de la société au vieillissement, votée fin 2015, consacre cette approche. La mobilisation par les personnes âgées de leur patrimoine immobilier pour répondre à leurs besoins apparaît en outre comme une piste prometteuse qui pourrait davantage être encouragée, même si elle trouve ses limites dans certains territoires. |

Today’s persistent concern is the adaptation of these assets to the ageing of its occupiers. Adapting one’s own housing accommodation is seen as a means of preventing dependency and reducing its cost. The Act on the adaptation of society to ageing voted at the end of 2015, firmly establishes this approach. The mobilization by seniors of their real estate to respond to their needs appears to be a promising lead, which should be encouraged, even though it has limitations in some fields. |
