| Summary, etc. | Les dessins consacrés aux communistes par Robert Fuzier dans Le Populaire de 1931 à 1940 sont l’un des meilleurs révélateurs de la ligne « unitaire » qui singularise alors le quotidien central du Parti socialiste. Cette ligne est constante, malgré les avatars de la relation entre socialistes et communistes. Jusqu’en 1934, alors que l’heure est à la confrontation, Robert Fuzier ne pratique envers ces derniers qu’un persiflage bon enfant. Une fois signé le pacte d’unité d’action, il ne cesse de valoriser l’union avec eux. Après le pacte germano-soviétique d’août 1939, il ne les dénonce pas. Ainsi traduit-il la priorité donnée par son journal au combat contre le fascisme, malgré les socialistes les plus anticommunistes. |

| Summary, etc. | Robert Fuzier’s drawings of Communists as published in Le Populaire from 1931 to 1940 are one of the best indicators of the “unitary” line which made this daily newspaper, the Socialist Party’s main publication at the time, unique. The newspaper’s position was constant, despite the ups and downs of contemporary relationships between Socialists and Communists. Until 1934, at a time of confrontation, Robert Fuzier only good-heartedly teased Communists. Once the unity pact of July 1934 was signed, he continued to promoted unity with them. After the German-Soviet pact of August 1939, he did not denounce them. Thus he translated the priority handed down by the newspaper’s leaders to fight against fascism, despite certain elements of anti-communist socialist feeling. |
