| Summary, etc. | L’article porte sur la création et l’action de l’UNFP, le syndicat dont les footballeurs professionnels français se sont dotés pour accéder à la liberté contractuelle. S’efforçant de comprendre les ressorts de leur mobilisation, il concilie deux aspects souvent dissociés : ce qui relève des logiques de constitution d’une instance de représentation et ce qui renvoie aux actions menées au nom de cette dernière. L’article montre ainsi que le succès de cette mobilisation ne procède pas de la seule capacité des joueurs à s’organiser pour faire triompher leurs intérêts, mais d’une configuration d’ensemble qui conduit différents groupes (journalistes et pouvoirs publics notamment) à soutenir, pour des raisons qui leur sont propres, l’existence et l’entreprise de l’UNFP. |

| Summary, etc. | The article focuses on the creation and activity of the UNFP, the union established by professional French football players to obtain contractual freedom. In an effort to understand the reasons behind their mobilisation, this article attempts to reconcile two often dissociated aspects: the founding of a representative body and the actions carried out in its name. It thus shows that the success of this mobilisation did not derive solely from the players’ ability to organize themselves to achieve their specific demands, but from an overall situation which led different groups (journalists and public authorities in particular) to support, for varying reasons, the existence and activity of the UNFP. |
