| Summary, etc. | Depuis 1985, le Conseil représentatif des institutions juives de France (CRIF) donne chaque année un dîner dont l’invité d’honneur est le Premier ministre en exercice, voire, dans certains cas depuis 2008, le président de la République. Cet échange public médiatisé est un phénomène unique permettant à un corps intermédiaire à vocation identitaire, reconnu comme un interlocuteur privilégié des pouvoirs publics, de parler sur un pied d’égalité avec l’exécutif. Cet article retrace les étapes de la légitimation du CRIF et analyse la genèse du dîner inaugural afin de comprendre comment ce rendez-vous s’est inscrit dans le calendrier politique national devenant le cadre de discours sur Israël et le Moyen-Orient ainsi qu’une tribune pour les annonces de politiques publiques en matières de lutte contre l’antisémitisme et de réparation de la Shoah. |

| Summary, etc. | The Birth and Institutionalization of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France’s Annual GalaSince 1985, the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France (CRIF) has organised an annual gala evening. The guest of honour is the acting Prime Minister, although since 2008 the latter has in some cases been replaced by the President of the Republic. This high-profile event provides a unique opportunity for an intermediary organisation, recognised as a special government partner, to speak on equal footing with the executive branch of the French state. The present article explores the genesis of the first dinner and outlines the steps leading to its legitimisation in order to understand how it became part of the national political calendar, ultimately becoming a platform for political discourse on Israel and the Middle East and announcements of public policies concerning Holocaust reparations and the struggle against anti-Semitism. |
