| Summary, etc. | L’article s’intéresse aux femmes en tant qu’actrices de l’histoire dans l’Europe de l’Est d’après-guerre. La première partie traite des apports récents de l’historiographie anglophone et souligne la nécessité d’étudier le genre comme outil de négociation des pouvoirs entre l’État et la société. La deuxième partie analyse les expériences des femmes qui ont occupé des postes de direction, qualifiés, dominés par les hommes, pendant la période stalinienne d’industrialisation de la Pologne. Bien que ces emplois fissent partie d’un projet mené par l’État pour promouvoir l’égalité des sexes, ces femmes ont souvent contesté les politiques étatiques et ont suivi leurs propres conceptions de l’émancipation. |

| Summary, etc. | Women on the Fringes?The article focuses on women as historical agents in postwar Eastern Europe. The first part discusses recent English-language literature on the subject and the need to study gender as a tool in negotiating power between state and society. The second part analyzes experiences of women, who entered male-dominated, skilled, and managerial occupations during the Stalinist industrialization in Poland. Although this was part of the state-led project aimed at the equality of the sexes, these women often contested state policies and pursued their own ideas of emancipation. |
