| Summary, etc. | Le secteur gérontologique est soumis, comme tout le secteur social et médico-social, à un fragile équilibre entre un souci de protection du public aidé et une préservation de son autonomie et de sa liberté. La crise sanitaire liée à la Covid-19 a drastiquement renforcé la logique de protection, mimant en cela les mesures en vigueur dans le secteur sanitaire. Si les personnes âgées ont échappé à des mesures de confinement les visant spécifiquement, les établissements et services gérontologiques ont été destinataires de multiples injonctions et protocoles de la part des autorités publiques. Cette situation a mis en évidence les fragilités structurelles d’un secteur qui ne dispose guère des moyens de faire valoir ses spécificités, tant le care est jugé secondaire par rapport au cure. Ceci ne doit cependant pas occulter le potentiel d’innovation et de solidarité existant localement. |

| Summary, etc. | The gerontological sector, like all social and medico-social sectors, is subject to a fragile balance between a concern for the protection of the assisted public and the preservation of its autonomy and freedom. The health crisis linked to Covid-19 has drastically reinforced the logic of protection in social work, mimicking the measures in force in the health sector. If the elderly have been spared the imposition of confinement measures specifically aimed at them, gerontological establishments and services have been the recipients of multiple injunctions and protocols from the public authorities. This situation has highlighted the structural weaknesses of a sector that hardly has the means to assert its specificities, as care is considered secondary to cure. However, this should not obscure the potential for innovation and solidarity that exists locally. |
