| Summary, etc. | Dans le cadre d’un programme de recherche portant sur les enfants confiés à un proche ( epcp) dans un département d’outre-mer, cet article se fonde sur une recherche menée à Saint-Martin fin 2020. Ces dispositifs d’aide éducative en protection de l’enfance semblent généralement répondre aux besoins de la population, enfants, tiers comme parents. La mise en œuvre dans cette petite île est très spécifique, avec des particularités que l’on retrouve dans la plupart des territoires d’outre-mer (l’insularité comme ressource, l’héritage du confiage traditionnel, les migrations comme élément déclencheur, la prégnance de la matrifocalité…) ou qui sont propres à Saint-Martin (un territoire insulaire et divisé, une organisation territoriale originale qui créent des synergies, la création d’une aide spécifique comme « appel d’air », le facteur communautaire, la permanence des tiers et des référents, l’engagement des élus…). |

| Summary, etc. | This article is based on a project conducted in Saint-Martin in late 2020 as part of a research program on children in care entrusted to a near relative in an overseas region. These child protection educational assistance mechanisms based on entrustment generally seem to meet the needs of the population, children, third parties and parents alike. The implementation in this small island is very specific, with specificities that can be found in most overseas territories (insularity as a resource, the heritage of traditional entrustment custody arrangements, migration as a triggering factor, the importance of matrifocality…) or which are specific to Saint-Martin (an insular and divided territory, an original territorial organization which creates synergies, the creation of a specific aid as a way of opening up, the community factor, the permanence of third parties and referents, the commitment of elected officials…). |
