| Summary, etc. | Après la mort de Léon Blum, André Blumel, son ancien directeur de cabinet, s’impose comme l’un des principaux gardiens de sa mémoire, mais aussi comme le plus singulier. C’est en socialiste de gauche unitaire devenu dissident de la SFIO qu’il mène son travail de mémoire, ainsi que, paradoxalement, en ami sincère. Il lui faut se situer par rapport à l’histoire, de même que par rapport aux autres porteurs de la mémoire de Blum à gauche, la Société des amis de Léon Blum, les dissidents socialistes de gauche de sa propre sensibilité et les communistes. Il constitue ainsi un excellent observatoire de ce champ mémoriel méconnu, dont il est l’un des acteurs les plus en vue avant d’en devenir l’un des fédérateurs. |

| Summary, etc. | After the death of Léon Blum, his former chief of staff André Blumel established himself as one of the main guardians of his memory, but also as the most unique. As a unitarian left-wing socialist and ultimately a dissident of the French Section of the Workers’ International (SFIO), Blumel nonetheless carried out his commemorative work as a true friend. This in turn raises the question of how he stands in relation to history, as well as in relation to the other standard-bearers of Blum’s memory on the Left, the Society of Friends of Léon Blum, other left-wing socialist dissidents like him, and the Communists. He thus constitutes an excellent vantage point from which to investigate this little-known commemorative space, of which he was one of the most prominent actors before helping to federate it. |
