| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article analyse le retour en force du national dans la Roumanie des années 1960 comme une réaction à la soviétisation. Les dirigeants roumains exploitent alors habilement les sentiments russophobes de la population, dans le cadre d’une stratégie de légitimation interne et externe. Politique nationale de développement économique dans un premier temps, le communisme national évolue au milieu de la décennie vers un nationalisme d’État, à la fois politique et culturel, maniant une rhétorique ouvertement antisoviétique et tendant vers une définition de la nation en termes ethniques. L’analyse de cette maturation du national-communisme permet de voir que le cas roumain n’est nullement une exception à l’échelle du bloc soviétique. Par ailleurs, l’étude souligne que le ferment nationaliste de la politique menée dans les années 1960 par Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej puis Nicolae Ceauşescu n’est pas radicalement innovant ; il mobilise au contraire des processus de construction identitaire et des éléments fédérateurs déjà expérimentés par le nationalisme roumain du 19e siècle, puis celui de l’entre-deux-guerres. |

| Summary, etc. | From National Communism to Romanian-State Communism: Reactions to Romanian Sovietization in the 1960sThis paper examines the resurgence of nationalism in the 1960s in Romania as a reaction to Sovietization. At that time, Romanian leaders skilfully exploited the populations’ anti-Russian feelings through their internal and external legitimation strategy. At the beginning, there was a national Communist policy of economic development which led, in the middle of the decade, to a State nationalism, both political and cultural, wielding a patently anti-Soviet discourse and tending towards a definition of the nation in ethnic terms. The analysis of this development of Romanian state-communism makes it possible to see that the Romanian case is by no means an exception in the Eastern bloc. This work also shows that the nationalistic ferment of Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej’s and Nicolae Ceauşescu’s policy in the 1960s was not radically innovative. On the contrary, it used identity-construction and unifying procesess that had already been used in 19th century Romanian nationalism and the interwar period. |
