| Summary, etc. | RésuméAlors que les travaux consacrés à l’histoire du sport ont essentiellement appréhendé le développement des infrastructures sportives à partir de l’action des pouvoirs publics, cet article envisage de reconsidérer la manière dont s’opère dans le département de la Seine sous la Troisième République la production d’un espace des sports à partir de l’exemple du football. En s’appuyant sur la notion de territoire, cette étude essaie de comprendre comment les espaces de pratique associative ou informelle, les lieux de sociabilité ou encore les lieux de mémoire associative participent à la production, à l’identification et à la légitimation d’un espace des sports. |

| Summary, etc. | Soccer and the Making of Territorities: A Spatial Approach to Cultural PracticesWhile work on the history of sport has mainly dealt with the construction of public sports facilities, this article revisits the way the Seine department worked, taking soccer as an example, and during the Third Republic, in building a sports space. Using the notion of territory, this study analyzes how institutional or informal sports practice places, meeting places or “old-timers” sports associations are part of the production, identification and recognition of a sports space. |
