| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article entend contribuer à la compréhension systématique des réflexions schmittiennes relatives aux notions d’historicité et de modernité qui ont considérablement pesé sur la pensée des historiens allemands nés dans l’entre-deux-guerres. La théorie du politique que Schmitt élabore à partir du binôme ami et ennemi repose, avant tout, sur une conception particulière de l’histoire et de l’ère moderne. Schmitt décrit la modernité, dont le sens déterminerait la clarté et l’intensité de l’histoire elle-même, comme une époque sur le déclin, aboutissant à l’avènement des neutralisations et des dépolitisations charriées par le libéralisme. Pour résister spirituellement à cette « accélération » des temps, il n’y aurait pas d’autre alternative que de puiser à la source d’une conceptualité mythique et théologique, seule encline à maintenir l’histoire en mouvement. |

| Summary, etc. | Maintaining History in Movement: Carl Schmitt, Thinker of Modern HistoricityThis article is a contribution to the systematic understanding of Schmittien thinking on the notions of historicity and modernity that have weighed heavily on German historians born between the world wars. Schmitt’s political theory using the friend-enemy pair is based on a particular conception of history and the modern era. Schmitt describes modernity whose meaning would determine the clarity and intensity of history itself, as a declining period, ending in the advent of neutralizations and depolitizations carried along by liberalism. To resist this “acceleration” of time spiritually, there is no other alternative but to draw from the source of a mythical and theological conceptuality, the only one that can maintain history in movement. |
