| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article interroge l’intérêt et la possibilité d’une histoire du rapport au temps des combattants français de la Grande Guerre. Il se penche tout d’abord sur la question des sources. Il montre que récits comme journaux intimes, correspondances ou poèmes, qui sont les sources indispensables à ce type d’histoire, génèrent de puissants effets de sources dont il est absolument nécessaire de tenir compte. Toutefois, il semble pertinent de s’interroger sur l’existence ou non de micro-régime d’historicités liés à l’expérience de guerre. Cet article montre en effet que l’expérience de guerre au front est également une expérience particulière du temps où peuvent par exemple se conjuguer un temps immobile et des projections dans l’avenir recelant parfois de grandes attentes. Il souligne aussi l’importance de l’appréhension de la guerre comme parenthèse temporelle pour les combattants. On peut penser que dans ce rapport à un temps à la fois subi et élaboré par les combattants eux-mêmes réside l’une des raisons de leur ténacité au front. |

| Summary, etc. | War as Experience of Time and Time as War Experience: Hypotheses for a History of French Soldiers’ Relation to Time in World War IThis article deals with the interest in and possibility of a history of French soldiers’ relationship to time in World War I. It focuses first on the question of sources. It shows that accounts like personal diaries, letters and poems, indispensable sources for this type of history, generate powerful effects that must be taken into account. However, it seems necessary to question the existence or not of micro-regimes of historicities linked to war experience. The article shows that war experience at the front is also a particular experience of time in which an immobile time and projections into the future can occur together and sometimes contain great expectations. It also emphasizes the importance of apprehending war as a temporal parenthesis for the soldiers. It is possible that this relationship to time that the soldiers both undergo and work out themselves explains one of the reasons for their tenacity at the front. |
