| Summary, etc. | L’article revient sur les dimensions sexuées et sexuelles de la relation d’enquête dans une enquête sur la pornographie. Parce que les images et la pratique de la pornographie apparaissent comme vulgaires et mobilisent les désirs de celui qui la constitue en objet de recherche, la neutralisation des désirs est un positionnement spontané, qui permet de constituer la pornographie en objet de savoir légitime. L’article montre que l’analyse des rapports de genre et de sexualité dans lesquels le chercheur est pris permet au contraire d’éclairer certains aspects du terrain d’enquête. L’enjeu n’est pas de révéler les désirs de l’enquêteur, mais d’expliciter les processus de sexualisation et de désexualisation de la relation d’enquête. La perception par les enquêtés du genre et de la sexualité du chercheur, leurs représentations et leurs réactions par rapport à ceux-ci, fonctionnent ainsi comme des révélateurs des logiques à l’œuvre sur le terrain. |

| Summary, etc. | This article examines the gendered and sexual aspects of researcher-respondent relationships in a study of the pornographic film industry. Because pornographic images and practices are seen as both distasteful and sexually arousing, potentially awakening the desires of the person for whom they constitute a research object, the neutralization of the researcher’s desire is a spontaneous positioning, making it possible to establish pornography as a legitimate object of research. The article shows that, on the contrary, the analysis of gender and sexuality relations in which the researcher is involved provides a means to shed light on certain aspects of the field under study. The aim is not to reveal the researcher’s desires, but to explain the processes of sexualization and desexualization in the researcher-respondent relationship. The researcher’s gender and sexuality as they are perceived by respondents, their representations and reactions, are revelatory of the processes at play in the field. |
