Summary, etc. | Comment expliquer que les diplômé·e·s du supérieur d’origine subsaharienne se soient senti·e·s victimes de propos et d’attitudes racistes plus que de discrimination à l’école ? Quelles différenciations établir entre racisme et discrimination ? Cet article propose une analyse des mécanismes aboutissant respectivement à des situations discriminatoires ou racistes dans le cadre scolaire. La discrimination est vécue par des enquêté·e·s qui disent avoir été des élèves moyen·ne·s dans des établissements peu mixtes sur les plans ethno-racial et social. Le racisme touche en revanche des enquêté·e·s qui disent avoir été de bon·ne·s élèves et ont intégré des établissements fréquentés par une population « blanche » issue de milieux favorisés. L’article présente également les différences de réaction que ces vécus suscitent, sentiment d’injustice et résistance d’une part, sentiment de malaise et minimisation d’autre part. |

Summary, etc. | Educational achievement, racism and discriminationHow can we explain why and how graduates from university of sub-Saharan origin declare suffering from racism more than discrimination when at school ? This article highlights the distinction between racism and discrimination and analyzes the mechanisms causing each of them. Discrimination at school is experienced by interviewees who received average grades and consider that their school was not very socially and racially mixed. By contrast, racism is reported when interviewees consider that they were good pupils in schools that they describe as “white” and privileged. It analyzes the different reactions to these experiences : the expression of injustice and resistance on the one hand, social unease and minimization on the other hand. |
