| Summary, etc. | Cet article a pour objet d’appréhender la fabrique des rémunérations des personnels artistiques (comédien·nes, scénaristes et cinéastes) négociées par les agentes artistiques, intermédiaires qui représentent les intérêts de ces derniers auprès des employeurs/financeurs de films. En ouvrant l’enveloppe des rémunérations des artistes, on analysera la manière par laquelle le « rapport de production symbolique » organise la polarisation de ce commerce du travail. On saisira d’abord quelles dispositions sociales, commerciales et culturelles des agentes artistiques sont investies dans cette activité, on identifiera ensuite quelles conventions et stratégies et quels rapports de pouvoir sont au cœur des mécanismes de tarification et de valorisation du « nom » des artistes, pour enfin comprendre comment ce commerce du travail, régi par une économie de projets et par une économie de la singularité, est structurellement constitutif de l’individualisation des rémunérations. |

| Summary, etc. | Just Name your Price! What Artistic Agents DoThis article studies how artistic agents negotiate artists’ fees (actors/actresses, screenwriters and filmmakers). As intermediaries, they represent their clients’ interests when dealing with the employers or funders of movies. In the absence of any established pay scale, the “price” of the artists is negotiated by mutual agreement, with the exception of the minimum for the lower fees. We analyze how the polarization of this world of work is shaped by the “symbolic production relation” which organizes it. We first show what social, commercial and cultural provisions artistic agents invest in the exercise of this activity. Then, we identify which conventions and according to what power relations they money the ‘name’ of their client. Finally, we analyse how this specific trade, which is governed by a project economics and an economics of singularities, is structurally constitutive of the individualization of pay. |
