| Summary, etc. | À partir d’une enquête collective menée entre 2017 et 2020 sur les recompositions des politiques d’attribution et de peuplement dans six agglomérations françaises, cet article examine les processus de catégorisation à l’œuvre dans les politiques locales du logement social. Nous montrons d’abord qu’en dépit de la clarification du principe de mixité sociale et de la redistribution des rôles opérées par la loi Égalité et Citoyenneté de 2017, la majorité des acteurs locaux continue de mobiliser les catégories ethnoraciales antérieures. Les référents ethnoraciaux occupent toujours une place saillante dans les représentations sociales des acteurs et la manière dont ils perçoivent les situations d’attribution. Nous mettons ensuite en évidence des processus d’ethnicisation et de racialisation discrètes, construits sur des critères perçus comme plus légitimes que les critères manifestement ethniques ou raciaux. Enfin, nous analysons les conditions sociales qui rendent possible le maintien des catégories ethnoraciales par-delà la loi Égalité et Citoyenneté. |

| Summary, etc. | Based on a collective survey carried out between 2017 and 2020 on the restructuring of social housing allocation and settlement policies in six French agglomerations, this paper examines the categorisation processes at work in local social housing policies. First, we show that despite the legislative clarification of the principle of social mix and the reallocation of roles provided by the 2017 Equality and Citizenship Act, the majority of local actors continue to mobilise previous ethnoracial categories. Ethnoracial referents still occupy a salient place in the social representations of actors and the way they perceive allocation situations. Then, we highlight processes of discrete ethnicisation and racialisation, built on criteria perceived as more legitimate than overtly ethnic or racial criteria. Finally, we analyse the social conditions that make it possible to maintain ethnoracial categories beyond the Equality and Citizenship Act. |
