| Summary, etc. | Dans un contexte d’accroissement de l’offre éducative privée, cet article interroge les logiques politiques et institutionnelles qui président à l’ouverture – ou à la fermeture – de l’espace des alternatives pédagogiques dans l’enseignement public français. Il analyse l’activité de deux institutions en charge de l’innovation au sein du ministère de l’Éducation nationale entre 2000 et 2002 : le Conseil national de l’innovation pour la réussite scolaire (CNIRS), institution consultative naissante, et le bureau Innovalo qui occupe une position stratégique dans l’administration centrale. Adoptant une perspective de sociologie de l’institution, le texte restitue la genèse, les enjeux et le dénouement de leur concurrence pour le monopole de la politique d’innovation. Les luttes de territoire entre celles-ci ont un effet à la fois sur la définition de la politique d’innovation pédagogique et sur le devenir des expériences pédagogiques alternatives : si le CNIRS disparaît après 2002, sa stratégie de publicisation lui assure une influence durable et une intégration de ses instruments par le bureau Innovalo. |

| Summary, etc. | As the number of private alternative schools grows, this paper questions the place dedicated to educational alternatives in the French public school system. Using the sociology of public action and a historical approach, the analysis focuses on policy within two institutions in charge of pedagogical innovations in the French ministry of Education between 2000 and 2002 : the National Council of Innovation for School Achievement, and the bureau “Innovalo”. The controversies between these two institutions, as they fight for the monopoly of innovation policy, impacts the definition and the fate of alternative public schools. Although the Council was shut down after the French presidential elections, it somehow achieved to impose its conception and its instruments over time. |
