| Summary, etc. | Cet article propose de s’intéresser aux participations habitantes à l’action publique locale en matière de vie nocturne. La municipalité étudiée a mis en place un dispositif participatif autour des enjeux nocturnes, un « Conseil de la Nuit ». L’enquête montre que si certain·es habitant·es sont invité·es à prendre part aux débats sur la vie nocturne, ces dernier·es ne sont pas au centre de l’instance participative, qui reste avant tout tournée vers les patron-nes de bar. Les habitant·es s’investissent peu dans le dispositif participatif. Néanmoins, l’article montre que ces dernier·es ont d’autres ressources. Les habitant·es empruntent des chemins de traverse afin de porter leurs causes auprès des pouvoirs publics. Cette enquête repose sur une ethnographie réalisée grâce un stage de sept mois auprès de l’élu à la vie nocturne, complétée d’une quinzaine d’entretiens et de l’étude d’articles de presse. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper looks at how residents participate in local public action regarding nightlife. The municipality has set up a participatory mechanism on nightlife issues, a “Conseil de la Nuit”. However, although some residents are invited to take part, they are not the core of the Conseil de la Nuit, which remains focused on bar owners. Eventually, residents are not much involved. Nonetheless, the paper shows that residents have other resources. They take side roads to bring their causes to the attention of public authorities. This research is based on an ethnography carried out, in a particular city, during an seven-month internship with the councillor assigned to nightlife issues, as well as on about fifteen interviews and a study of press articles. |
