Summary, etc. | Fondé sur deux recherches ethnographiques menées dans un centre d’appels espagnol et un atelier d’éboueurs parisien, cet article vise à interpréter les multiples facettes et enjeux sociaux de l’humour au travail pour en enrichir l’analyse sociologique à partir de métiers apparemment très différents. Notre hypothèse repose sur l’idée que l’humour constitue un intéressant, mais peu usuel opérateur d’intelligibilité pratique et symbolique du travail, de son organisation et des modes de déploiement des différentes activités. Il permet en effet de rendre compte de la structuration et l’interpénétration des rapports sociaux à l’œuvre dans la division du travail, tandis qu’il renseigne sur les cultures de métier, les formes de résistance et de créativité des travailleurs face aux diverses contraintes, leurs modes d’engagement ou de distanciation au travail, ou les formes de contrôle social construisant et assurant la cohésion des collectifs professionnels. |

Summary, etc. | Sociological Perspectives on Humour at Work: The Cases of Front-Office Employees and Garbage CollectorsBased on two ethnographic studies conducted in the call centre of a public office in Spain and a public waste collection company in Paris, this paper intends to provide an understanding of the multiple aspects and sociological implications of humour at work with the aim of enriching its sociological analysis by examining apparently very different work environments and professional cultures. Our hypothesis is based on the assumption that humour is an interesting but unusual vehicle for a practical and symbolic understanding of work dynamics, organisation and implementation of different activities. It indeed makes it possible to analyse the structure and interplay of social relations embodied in the division of labour, while also providing an insight into professional cultures, creative forms of resistance performed by workers to meet their commitments and overcome any obstacle along the way, strategies adopted to engage in or distance themselves from work, or forms of social control developed to enhance work group cohesion. |

Summary, etc. | Desafíos sociológicos de un análisis del humor en el trabajo: el caso de los agentes de atención ciudadana y de los basurerosBasado en dos estudios etnográficos realizados en un call center de la Administración Pública española y en un centro de basureros parisino, este artículo tiene como objetivo interpretar las múltiples facetas e implicaciones sociológicas del humor en el trabajo a la hora de enriquecer su análisis sociológico estudiando dos profesiones aparentemente muy diferentes. Nuestra hipótesis se basa en la idea de que el humor representa un interesante, aunque poco convencional, operador de inteligibilidad práctica y simbólica del trabajo, de su organización y de las modalidades de implementacion de las diferentes actividades. De hecho, permite dar cuenta de la estructuración e interpenetración de las relaciones sociales que se ponen en acción en la división del trabajo, además de informar sobre las culturas profesionales, las formas de resistencia y de creatividad de los trabajadores frente a diversos obstáculos, sus formas de compromiso o de distanciamiento del trabajo, o las modalidades de control social que construye y asegura la cohesión de los grupos profesionales. |
