520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | C.G. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Being a Psychiatrist and Jungian Analyst Today – Looking for Perspectives C.G. Jung was working as young psychiatrist at the University Clinic of Burghölzli in Zurich with psychotic patients using free association techniques encouraged by E. Bleuler, imbued with P. Janet’s ideas and inspired by Freud’s discoveries, when he began to set down his own theory of the unconscious. Jungian psychoanalysts share a common understanding of a theory and, more essentially, a common practice of the relationship with the unconscious that lays great stress on the activating conditions of organising processes of self, of symbolisation and integration of the content that arises from this. But these theoretical ideas, however pertinent they may be for serious pathological states, are not commonly used in psychiatric milieus that are more inclined to use therapeutic methods that are more efficient in the short term and which are more cost effective rather than using the creativity of the unconscious in their clinical practice. |
