| Summary, etc. | En 1905 – avant que la psychanalyse ne soit introduite en Italie – les psychiatres et professeurs universitaires Tanzi et Lugaro publièrent le Trattato delle malattie mentali (Traité des maladies mentales), qui fut longtemps un important texte d’étude pour la formation de beaucoup de générations de médecins psychiatres. Dans cet épais traité S. Freud n’était absolument pas nommé, mais était présent dans les éditions suivantes de 1914 et 1923. Dans chaque référence tirée de l’œuvre de S. Freud, Tanzi et Lugaro réfutèrent la psychanalyse, en essayant de tronquer les fondements théoriques par des jugements grossièrement préjudiciaux. |

| Summary, etc. | Psychoanalysis in the Work of Eugenio Tanzi and Ernesto Lugaro. In 1905, before psychoanalysis was introduced into Italy, Tanzi and Lugaro, both psychiatrists and university professors, published the Trattato malattie mentali (Treaty of Mental Illness) which for years was the key text in the training of generations of psychiatrists. Sigmund Freud gets no mention in this hefty work, but did appear in the 1914 and 1923 editions. In each reference to Freud’s work, Tanzi and Lugaro refute the principle of psychoanalysis and sabotage its theoretical basis in the most biased and unsophisticated of ways. |
