| Summary, etc. | Cet article montre que l’adverbe français là possède les propriétés interprétatives des groupes nominaux définis, y compris leurs emplois faibles, alors que ici est un déictique dont l’usage démonstratif est possible et fréquent en raison de son contenu spatial. Il relie donc l’usage de ces adverbes au fonctionnement des groupes nominaux ordinaires, munis d’un déterminant, et tente d’expliquer les différences d’emploi observées à partir des propriétés qui opposent trois grandes catégories d’expressions : les déictiques, les démonstratifs et les définis. On montre en outre que cette proposition peut être étendue à d’autres langues en discutant en détail son extension au serbe et à l’opposition tu/ovde. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper claims that the French adverb là has the typical properties of regular definite NPs, including their weak readings, whereas ici is an indexical which can easily get a demonstrative use because of its spatial content. It establishes, thus, a link between the semantics of these adverbs and the semantics of regular NPs containing a determiner and a nominal head. It aims at explaining the observed differences from the properties which distinguish three types of expresssions : indexicals, demonstrative and definites. It shows, moreover, that the proposal can be extended to other languages by discussing its application to Serbian and to the opposition tu/ovde. |
