| Summary, etc. | Nous présentons et définissons la notion de chaîne de référence, regroupant dans un même texte les expressions référentielles – ou « maillons » – qui désignent le même référent. Nous discutons de la nature des expressions référentielles et conséquemment des chaînes de référence. Nous montrons qu’il est possible de tenir compte de maillons non exprimés, par exemple les sujets de verbes conjugués, au participe ou à l’infinitif. Avec ce type de phénomène qui diffère selon la langue étudiée, nous montrons l’intérêt d’une approche contrastive pour l’étude des maillons d’une chaîne de référence. Nous introduisons alors un ensemble d’études contrastives qui interrogent les notions même de maillon et de chaîne, et nous présentons le cadre de travail constitué par le projet ANR Democrat, dans lequel la plupart de ces études se sont déroulées. |

| Summary, etc. | We present and define the notion of coreference chain, grouping together the referring expressions – or « links » – that designate the same referent in a text. We discuss the nature of referring expressions and consequently of coreference chains. We show that it is possible to take into account unexpressed links, for example the subjects of conjugated verbs, as well as with participles or infinitives. With this type of phenomenon, which differs according to the language studied, we show the interest of a contrastive approach for the study of the links of a coreference chain. We then introduce a set of contrastive studies which question the notions of link and chain, and we present the framework constituted by the Democrat project, in which most of these studies took place. |
