| Summary, etc. | La propagande comme le fanatisme rend compte des figures de l’emprise. En référence aux propositions freudiennes et post freudiennes de l’emprise, nous envisageons la cruauté (1905), la fécalisation (1913) et le sadisme (1915) comme triptyque majeur des composantes psychiques, sociales et sociétales de l’emprise. La pulsion scopique en relaye les variables de destructivité et d’assujettissement. À partir du référentiel génocidaire du Rwanda ou du génocide khmer rouge, nous faisons de la paranoïa le paradigme psychopathologique de la relation d’emprise à l’œuvre dans le fanatisme et la propagande. |

| Summary, etc. | Expressions of a Stranglehold. Propaganda and Fanaticism. Both propaganda and fanaticism are expressions of a stranglehold. Freudian and post-Freudian ideas on the notion of complete power are the basis in this paper for a discussion of cruelty (1905), faecal behaviour (1913) and sadism as the key triptych at the root of the psychic, social and societal components of this phenomenon. Visual drives relay the processes at play as destructiveness and subjection take hold. Analysis of the genocides carried out in Rwanda and in Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge will allow us to establish paranoia as the psychopathological paradigm at the basis of the complete control over others exerted in fanaticism and propaganda. |
