520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The present work reports on a study that identifies the possible connections between teaching models and language attitudes of French-speaking pupils in Belgium. Three types of teaching have been considered: conventional foreign language teaching, immersion and submersion. The quantitative data were collected through an online survey and subjected to inferential statistical analyses. The results of these analyses show more positive attitudes towards the target language in immersion and submersion compared to conventional teaching. However, the same cannot be said for attitudes towards the language communities, for which no significant differences were found. The comparison between immersion and submersion shows an advantage in the reported behavior for submersion students. In contrast, affective attitudes are stronger for immersion students. |
