| Summary, etc. | This article aims to study the pragmaticalization of a discourse marker whose use stopped around the end of the 16th century, viz. et puis, used to open an interaction. This use, which today has become impossible, remains marginal in the corpora we searched (Frantext, BFM), without, however, being negligible.We see that et puis, apart from the function we are dealing with, is used as a continuative marker and discourse organizer. Yet, its use as a discourse initiator has received very little, if any, scholarly attention or is hardly documented. We hypothesize that this function stems from the underdetermination of et. This underdetermination is already found in its medieval use. As for its disappearance, it is possible that it was achieved for the benefit of et bien, operating with the same syntactic pattern. |

| Summary, etc. | Cet article vise à étudier la pragmaticalisation d’un marqueur discursif ayant vu son usage s’arrêter aux alentours de la fin du XVIe siècle : et puis employé afin d’ouvrir une interaction. Cette utilisation, aujourd’hui impossible, demeure mineure dans les corpus compulsés (Frantext, BFM) sans que l’on puisse toutefois la négliger.On verra que et puis, en dehors de la fonction dont nous nous occuperons, possède une valeur de continuatif et d’organisateur du discours mais que son utilisation comme initiateur n’a été que très peu (voire pas du tout) étudiée ni répertoriée. On fera l’hypothèse que cette fonction ressortit à la sous-détermination de et, sous-détermination que l’on retrouve déjà dans son emploi médiéval. Quant à sa disparition, il est possible qu’elle se soit réalisée au bénéfice de et bien, fonctionnant sur le même schéma syntaxique. |
