Dans cette optique le fait majeur est la traduction en français de la Bible et son enseignement par les prédicateurs. Elle est une cause fondamentale de la réforme en ouvrant à chaque chrétien, de façon démocratique les interprétations de leurs croyances et dès lors le heurt de celles-ci avec les convictions instituées. La compréhension de la « présence réelle du Christ dans l’eucharistie par Calvin » se révèle à la lecture de son petit traité une affaire moins théologique que politique. |

| Summary, etc. | The Protestant Martyr Through martyrdom, Protestants bore witness to religious experiences flying in the face of the dogma laid down by the all-powerful Church of Rome. In this light, the translation of the Bible into French and the dissemination of Biblical texts played a key role. It was one of the main causes of the Reformation, in that it allowed each Christian, in the most democratic fashion, to come to their own interpretations about their belief and thereby quickly causing conflict with established convictions. When considered from this stance, Calvin’s re-interpretation of the ‘presence of Christ in the Eucharist’ in his short treaty on the subject appears less a theological than a highly-charged political document. |
