520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The Infinite Bereavement of Objectless Pregnancies. Women who have lost foetuses close to the full term of pregnancy may develop melancholic syndromes which do not evolve spontaneously into natural bereavement processes. This prolonged state of morbidity is almost always under-estimated. It is characterised by a deeply-rooted fixation in the event at the root of the melancholia, and its symptoms include nightmares and frequent hallucinations which may be either positive (phantom foetus) or negative (lack of perception of the foetus in a successive pregnancy). Such prolonged clinical states are observed irrespective of the circumstances surrounding the death of the foetus, be it through Medical Abortion (MA), Intrauterine Foetal Death (IUFD) or criminal infanticide.
