| Summary, etc. | Le cas de Pierre Rivière, qui a commis un parricide retentissant au XIXe siècle, a été étudié au cours d’un séminaire de Foucault en 1973, dans le cadre des rapports entre psychiatrie et justice pénale. Dans les archives d’Élisabeth Geblesco, psychanalyste, qui a assisté à ce séminaire, nous avons trouvé un manuscrit relatif au Mémoire (1836) de Rivière, édité et commenté par Foucault au cours du travail collectif au Collège de France en 1973. L’analyse d’Élisabeth Geblesco, transcrite ici pour la première fois, comble la lacune laissée dans le dossier constitué par Foucault : les états de paranoïa et de l’inceste, remplacent ce « brouillard » des discours juridique et de médecine mentale. L’acte de Rivière serait resté incompréhensible sans l’approche psychanalytique. |

| Summary, etc. | Presentation of Élisabeth Geblesco’s Unpublished Dossier on Pierre Rivière, 1973 Pierre Rivière committed a much-publicised parricide in the 19th century and which Foucault analysed in his seminars of 1973 as part of his study on the links between psychiatry and penal justice. Psychoanalyst Élisabeth Geblesco attended these seminars and a manuscript concerning Rivière’s 1836 Memoirs has recently been discovered among her archives. The Memoirs were edited and discussed by Foucault during collective study sessions at the Collège de France in 1973. Élisabeth Geblesco’s analysis, presented in this article for the first time, bridges many of the gaps left by Foucault in his presentation of the dossier – states of paranoia and incest replace the ‘fog’ left by the language of law and psychiatry. Rivière’s act would still be incomprehensible today were it not for the light shed on it by psychoanalysis. |
