520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Patrick De Neuter, Silvia Lippi – Ludwig II of Bavaria and the Operas of Wagner – from Sublimation to Fall. Ludwig II of Bavaria’s psychosis became evident after the death of Wagner. The King had in Wagner an unconditional admirer, sponsor and co-builder of his work. Much more, he had a passionate and platonic love for him. Yet it was also Ludwig’s compulsive attendance of Lohengrin and Tannhäuser which enabled him to stave off psychotic decompensation, and this up until the death of Wagner, his ego ideal. The authors of this paper use such concepts as the ideal, sublimation, and the question of confronting the real of the death and of the voice in order to explore the King’s tragic fate.
