| Summary, etc. | Derrière l’enfant réel gît une exigence démesurée : revivre avec un enfant issu de soi la relation idéale que l’on n’a pas connue – mais dont paradoxalement on garde la nostalgie – avec une mère elle-même idéale. Aussi le conflit ne manquera de surgir lorsque l’évolution de l’enfant le confrontera au fait qu’il n’est en réalité plus le même que le personnage auquel il était assigné à vie. L’incapacité à supporter la réalité et les limites de l’enfant conduit en retour à considérer la maternité comme une expérience qui requiert une réélaboration pulsionnelle. Celle-ci ne se limite pas à un refoulement des pulsions sexuelles et agressives mais implique leur sublimation. |

| Summary, etc. | Behind every child lurks an excessive demand – experiencing with one’s own child an idealised relationship that one did not experience, but about which one feels a sense of nostalgia, with one’s own idealised mother. Conflict becomes inevitable when the child’s development confronts it with the fact that they are no longer similar to the character to whom they have been assigned for life. The inability to accept reality and the limits of the child encourage us to consider maternity as an experience which requires a secondary elaboration of drives. This is not limited to the repression of sex drives and aggressive instincts, but concerns their sublimation. |
