520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | How can classical Freudian concepts be applied so as to help the analyst working with dyads, here newborn babies and their parents. Can such concepts as defence, transference, infantile sexuality, the role of the body ego and super ego play a role in the first year of life? The case of a newborn baby that could not look at her mother, who in turn felt no empathy with her child born from an egg donation, was interpreted by using Winnicott’s notion of the early superego and the lack of libidinal pleasure. The notion of defences against primitive anxiety and the role of unconscious maternal functioning were helpful in finding ways for the child and parents to regulate their interactions. |
