520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This paper examines the bonds between murder and psychosis and takes as its starting point the clinical case of a man suffering from schizophrenia who murdered his whole family. The author attempts to shed light on varying interpretations of this murder by connecting them to dead ends encountered in the man’s subjective history, establishing a distinction between uxoricide and infanticide in light of the unconscious motives under-pinning these two forms of murder. The paper posits that murdering family members results from a lack of filiation in the human subject and is a means of defence against the anguish of loss. He differentiates between several unconscious rationales at work in this case – imaginary matricide in the murder of the wife and a melancholic and cannibalistic solution in that of the children.
